Valuing What Matters
Offerings and news from our community
How often do you stop and reflect on your deepest values—the ones that surface when life feels challenging, when things don’t go your way, and you’re called to be your best self, even when no one else is watching?
Recently, our community embarked on an exploratory process, asking, "What truly matters to us?" We sought to identify the core values that act as the glue holding us together and guiding our collective decisions. After thoughtful discernment, we identified six key values: care, belonging, generosity, playfulness, curiosity, and embodiment. In the coming months, these will weave through our newsletters as central themes.
For now, we feel called to exemplify two of these values: curiosity and generosity.
Curiosity encourages us to rise above judgement. It invites us to embrace experimentation and explore possibilities beyond the status quo, unlocking new pathways we hadn’t imagined.
Generosity reminds us to appreciate our diverse cultural, personal, and professional backgrounds. It calls us to put our gifts in service of each other and the wider world, while recognizing and honoring each person’s unique contributions. Together, we celebrate achievements and support one another through challenges.
We will continue sharing our learnings on building these values into our client work, as well as within the community of skilled practitioners with whom we share office space. So far, it has been an evolving experiment in community-building—a space where people meet, learn from each other, co-create, and rethink the way we experience collaboration and shared space.
In that spirit, we invite you to join us at one of our upcoming events or share this email with a friend or colleague who is seeking fresh perspectives on how to integrate these values into everyday life. For those who have heard about “conscious leadership” or "raising our collective consciousness" but wonder what that looks like on a Monday morning, we’re here to offer practical insights.
As we step into the abundance of fall, we wish you continued success in your endeavors and kindly ask you to recommend us to friends who are in need of a place to host their events in Berlin.
Warmly,
Niels Devisscher and the We Create Meaning team!
Meet We Space Member Sanyam!
I’m Sanyam Bajaj, a professional photographer, creative director, and policy communication consultant.
“My journey has been shaped by over a decade of working at the intersection of visual art, non-profits, and international development. From the bustling streets of New Delhi to the artistic enclaves of Madrid and Paris (2016-19), I’ve always been drawn to places where creativity and the positive energy of diverse cultures thrive.
Since settling in Berlin in 2021, I’ve continued to explore how the worlds of art and policy can intersect, using both my camera and my expertise to tell stories that inspire change. With a master’s in professional photography and public policy, I see my work as more than just capturing moments—it's about shifting perspectives and driving meaningful impact.”
“I first got to know about Create Meaning during an event where my dear friend, Nicole Loser, co-founder of the Institute for Arts & Innovation, was leading a discussion.
That evening, the energy in the room was contagious—an exchange of ideas that seamlessly blended art, innovation, and social impact. As I met Steffen and other members, I felt an instant connection to this community, and the words “Make What Matters,” emblazoned on a poster, resonated deeply with me. So much so that I took the poster home, where it remained a constant reminder on my wall.”
Sanyam will be hosting the exhibition “Visual Dialogue on Climate Narratives: Framing Policy, Action, and Change” at WeSpace, an evolving conversation where art and advocacy come together to inspire collective action.
